LADIES! WE ARE WELCOMING ROB PATTINSON INTO OUR WORLD OF FANFIC! WE ARE ALSO ASKING YOU TO JOIN CDUNBAR'S EFFORTS FOR QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST WELCOME LETTER EVER.
Here is her blurb to get y'all chomping at the bit:
Someone recently suggested something to me and some friends that I thought was so funny, so brilliant that I needed to share it. Specifically, I needed to share it with you.
What is this thing, you ask? Well, let me tell you...
I don't know if you've heard (I'm assuming you have), but apparently Rob has read some Twilight fanfic. Some pretty hardcore fanfic, if his interview with GQ is anything to go by. And since we're all about helping the newbies in the fandom, someone suggested we help Rob out with his foray into twilight fanfic. With a welcome letter.
The 'Welcome to Fanfic, Rob' letter. (The name may change. If you have a suggestion, I'd love to hear it.)
So, what would you say in this letter? Would you tell Rob about the great people in the community? How the authors really pour their heart and soul into their fics? To review after you've read? Or to use what you learn while reading in real life?
Whatever you would say to him, I want you to say it. To me. And then I'm going to collect all of your responses together and create a massive welcome letter. It'll probably end up being read on the podcast at some point.
But this won't happen unless you contribute. It can be funny, dramatic, in your face, silly, a one liner, flirty... I don't care. In your words, in your style, welcome Rob to the fandom and give him the advice that any newbie needs to hear from an established pro such as yourself.

ReplyDeleteI read that interview. It made me giggle. But I think we better steer him in the right direction before he reads something horrible and leaves the fandom.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how excited this made me as an author? I saw him on the cover of GQ, but I haven't had a chance to buy it yet... Now I really want to. Too much. Oh, I'm going to have to start writing better stuff now! lol
ReplyDeleteIs not mentioned in the magazine his motivation for start reading it?? because thats important at least to me, because I know what got me into this and I would like that in the letter will be highlighted the most important reason (for me) for getting into this: the voids of SM and the insane love that a I have for Ed that takes me to want to imaging him in every case posibly... but with Rob who knows?
