FicDive: They Dove, They Found, They Live To Tell The Tale

Diver Alias: Sunshine State Residing College Cunt (aka le jen)
Mission: Mundane Human Tasks
Parameters: Humor

The Pearl: Attack of the Killer Washing Machine by Sway in the Moonlight

Summary: Completely random one-shot! Bella's doing a load of laundry and she's waiting for the washer to finish. But what happens when it gets to the spin cycle? A little fluff. Human Bella, Vampire Edward. Complete - Twilight - Fiction Rated: K - English - Humor - Chapters: 1 - Words: 1,817 - Reviews: 20 - Updated: 12-8-08 - Published: 12-8-08

Why I Read This: It’s r-r-r-random, random man (sorry, flight of the concords reference). And really, I’m smut minded and I read spin cycle. I was sold. I didn’t even look at the rating. It’s hilarious, and the writing is actual writing, not IM speak. This writer is able to form literary sentences that make sense. This story has an inside joke about Charlie’s washing machine that could be warped into a movie, and Edward dazzles Bella to tell him. And has channeled the monster that I use to do my laundry whilst at home. No Jokes!

Diver: Lightsaber Perving Killer of the Subtle (aka cdunbar)
Mission: Huh, That's Different
Parameters: No OCs or Crossovers, 1+ Chapters

The Pearl: The Agilests by LilBrown

Summary: Definitely AU and AH. Edward is a pro runner that has unique talents and abilities... or so he thinks. Bella comes along and shows him the unknown world of the Agilests and his world is never the same. M for darkish themes at the end. Complete - Twilight - Fiction Rated: M - English - Sci-Fi/Romance - Chapters: 15 - Words: 35,257 - Reviews: 40 - Updated: 1-13-09 - Published: 12-25-08

Why I Read This: First off, the name stuck me because I had no idea what an agilest was. I have a weird curiosity when it comes to things like that, so I felt compelled to investigate. And I soon found a world like none I had been introduced to before. But let me take a step back and tell you a little bit more about me.

I like science fiction. Not just that, though. I like the random, out there, space voyages, human powers, new worlds and universes, alien interaction, 'I can't believe someone is creative enough to think of that' science fiction. That said, you'll probably understand why I chose this story. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but come on. We all read Twilight, the reason we are here, and believed that vampires and werewolves roamed the earth, at least for a little while, so I think this won't be too far-fetched for some of you.

It's all from Edward's POV, which is one of my favorite point of views, and starts off with him about to run a professional race in a stadium bursting with fans, most of whom are waving or wearing something similar to 'Go, Edward!' The way the author writes the scene grabbed me. Her descriptions had a sort of wary, unattached, amused feel to them, so I felt right at home. But more than that, it was the last line of the first chapter that finally sealed the deal. I HAD to know more.

I'm not going to ruin the big surprise. And for those of you that click on the story and immediately scroll down to the last line, because I know someone is going to do it, shame on you. But if you give the story a chance and find a way to overlook the scattered typos and grammatical errors, you'll discover yourself caught up in this very fast-paced, cute story. And make sure to keep an eye out for Alice's character. She was by far my favorite, hands down. (Especially in chapter 12.) You'll find out why.

  2. I felt inspired and went dumpster dive and found De Anima by Audeamus-Amor. It's like the best alternate Twilight ever. And it's got like 40 reviews with 12 chapters up already. It's too bad not more people get to read it.
