Parameters: New, Intriguing, Under Appreciated
The Pearl: Answering Bell
Summary: After her divorce, Bella is broken. She moves away from Forks and resolves to move on with her life. With the help of some new friends, can she find love again? AU/AH, slightly OOC. I suck at summaries, but give it a shot. :
Twilight - Fiction Rated: M - English - Hurt/Comfort/Romance - Chapters: 5 - Words: 11,631 - Reviews: 12 - Updated: 3-9-09 - Published: 3-1-09
Why I Read This: First of all, even though this summary contains those words that I typically run away from, I gave it a shot. What I found was a well-planned, well thought out story that deserves far more attention that it has. I do admit to being confused in the beginning, but by the time I got to the second chapter, things made much more sense. I like a Bella who has the strength to make changes in her life and plow forward, doing what she needs to do even if that means leaving her comfort zone. After 5 chapters, the author has introduced us to the main players in the story and I'm more than just a little bit interested in seeing where she intends to take the story. It is definitely worth the read and the time.
Mission: Find a story that matches the reason I began reading fanfiction to begin with.
Parameters: New Moon era
The Pearl: When I Run
Summary: Edward's musings as he runs through the forest after leaving Bella. New Moon. Oneshot.
Complete - Twilight - Fiction Rated: K+ - English - General - Chapters: 1 - Words: 1,095 - Reviews: 3 - Updated: 6-25-08 - Published: 6-25-08
Why I Read This: When I began reading fanfiction last year, I went in search of two different kinds of fics--alternate universe and missing moments. I was a sucker for almost anything that delved into New Moon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Jacob fan, but I do believe that the book was the most powerful one in the Twilight saga. (And it had so much untapped potential, but that's a discussion for another day.) So, those were the stories that I went to, but after I exhausted those, I moved on to other things and never really went back to those stories that first got me hooked on the fanfiction from this fandom. I found just the type of story that I had craved. It's a short one-shot that does an excellent job of showing Edward's emotional turmoil and state of mind. The story is well-written and a quick read.

Twilight - Fiction Rated: M - English - Romance/Family - Chapters: 21 - Words: 70,268 - Reviews: 169 - Updated: 1-27-09 - Published: 12-30-08
Why I read this fic: I found this fic through a series of clicks … in other words, totally by accident. And what a find it was! I have no idea why more people haven’t read this fic. It features an older Edward and Bella, rich characterizations, and a beautiful romance. Add in a dash of hurt/comfort, a pinch of drama, and a touch of angst, and you’ve got my favorite combination. Little Renee is the sweetest thing, and I have to admit, I shared a few tears near the end. I’m shocked that it didn’t have more reads, but this was the author’s first story, which might have something to do with it. Her second story is currently a popular one on ff.net (and also worth a read!).
Mission: Deep Sea Diving
Parameters: 20+ chapters
The Pearl: Heartache by ooohlalaaa
Summary: When Bella moves to New York with Alice and Rosalie, a beautiful stranger turns her life upside down and makes her question everything she's ever known. More details inside. Rated M for super dark shiz to come. And some lemons, of course. AH, OOC
Twilight - Fiction Rated: M - English - Angst/Romance - Chapters: 23 - Words: 88,524 - Reviews: 152 - Updated: 3-4-09 - Published: 1-31-09
Why I read this fic: I clicked on this fic for one reason only: the phrase “super dark shiz”. I was in the mood for something a bit dark, so I gave it a go. I’m very glad I did. I was somewhat leery going into it since it had so many chapters and so few reviews—usually not a good sign. However, it is well-written with loads of drama, plot, and, yes, heartache. I don’t want to say too much about the storyline itself, because it will give too much away, but I will warn you that it deals with a mature topic that some might have a hard time reading about. The author deals with the subject matter head on, with no sugar-coating, and all the characters are portrayed very realistically. In other words, they’re as flawed as you and me. It’s a tough read at times because of that realism, but I felt it was definitely worth it. She seems to update regularly, too, which is always a good thing.
I have to agree with you on Heartache. I am absolutely in love with that story. It is one of my current favorites and I cannot wait for the next update.
